Vista’s UAC Notifications Driving You Crazy????
By
I promised I would NOT go to the Vista “dark” side for a year or so and was prepared to stick with my trusty Compaq laptop! But when my nearly 3-year old laptop kept getting slower and slower (even after a reformat), I decided it was time.
I was all set to go with a Dell laptop as they build some systems for XP diehards. But the systems they had to offer weren’t what I wanted. In addition, I read horror stories about component shortages, delivery delays and dealing with foreign support (but who doesn’t?), and decided to look locally. I settled on a swift and sweet Toshiba Satellite — and it came with …yes…Vista Home Premium!
I was apprehensive booting up and starting to use the OS. Soon, the UAC notifications were wearing out my mousing hand! There had to be a way to tame it or turn it down – right?
Relief came when I found a tip in Kim Komando’s arsenol. I tried it out and it works – no more pesky UAC notifications.

It’s a handy and small little program I downloaded and keep a shortcut on my desktop. With it, you can run Vista in its regular mode, or in quiet mode (it suppresses many of the administrative prompts), or turn it completely off .
Life is much better with Tweak UAC!
