I blogged in February about YouSendIt – a wonderful web tool for sending large files that’s easy to sign up for, easy to use and easy for a non-techie recipient to use too!

YouSendIt has a Free, Pro, Business & Corporate Plan to suit everyone’s needs. My needs are satisfied with the free account and I made a list of Pros and Cons of the free version:

PROs

Lite version is free

Recipient doesn’t have to set up an account to get to the file

Free for recipient to download

File limit size is 100MG – covers my needs (so far)

Plug-Ins available are handy if you have these programs:

Outlook

Photoshop

CorelDraw

Paperport

Aperture

There is a plug-in called YouSendIt Express that makes your uploads up to 25% faster

CONs

Unable to import address books (they are working on this)

Recipient only has 7 days to get the attachment (not enough for some people!)

With the Lite version, you can only send to 5 people at a time (bit of a bummer)

There is a limit of 1GB per month that all your recipients can download, so if you send out a lot of attachments, you will have to pace yourself.

Here’s a link that will compare the flavors of accounts offered: http://http://www.yousendit.com/cms/compareaccounts

YouSendIt is wonderful! For some time, I’d been searching for ways to share my home videos with friends and family. Sometimes I’ve built rather large PowerPoint presentations that would be cumbersome to send via email…don’t you hate clogging up someone’s email box!

I found YouSendIt and have been utilizing their free services for some time now. Just set up an on-line account – no software to download. The free version allows you to send up to a 100MB file to up to two people at a time. Then, up to 100 people can download your files per month. The paid services run from $9.99 to $99.99/mo. You can check it out at their website.

YouSendIt is great when you don’t want to publish a video to YouTube. It goes to the intended recipient only. They will get an email from YouSendIt, asking them to click on a link that takes them to a site to download the file. From there, it can be opened, watched, saved or whatever.
